The
final rush
Given
that many of the expeditions that were on the North Face have
already left Tibet (almost half), it is becoming increasingly
difficult to obtain any information from that side. It seems in
any case that we are participating in the final rush to the summit.
As we announced on Sunday the 23rd May, Alain and Manram have
gone back up the mountain. The Georgian expedition, whose doctor
administered medical treatment to Joao (currently in Kathmandu
on his way back to hospital in Saragossa) is also heading for
the high altitudes. As for the American commercial expedition,
they will try to put a maximum number of tourists on the summit
on the 27th of May, which means that this small crowd is all in
the process of climbing on the giant's North East ridge.
While
waiting for fresh news, we are publishing here the communication
from Luc
Fontyn (who was also a member of Pascal Debrouwer's
expedition) to his friends in Belgium.
