41 years old, married with three children, Alex served with the British Army for nine years before helping to set up HALO in Afghanistan in 1989. Now working in publishing with Financial News in London, he remains a trustee of The HALO Trust. A keen walker, he is the co-founder of The Caledonian Challenge, an annual 54 mile trek across the Highlands of Scotland for charity.
