A French Canadian from northern Ontario, Paul has always enjoyed winter. From an early age he ventured out on snowshoes and skis in winter and by canoe in summer to explore the untouched wilderness around his home community of Smooth Rock Falls.

After participating in an Outward Bound course in New Mexico, Paul realized he could combine his love of people with his need for wild places and joined the Outward Bound schools where he worked for 10 years, the last four as Program Director for the Canadian Outward Wilderness School. At Outward Bound he met Matty and their adventures turned from paddling whitewater rivers and mountaineering in South America to raising a family and moving to the Arctic. Paul is passionate about the Rolling Stones, politics, good scotch, and power kites.
