Background

Jon is a very prolific and versatile adventurer. His solo ascent of Mt. Everest in 1988 held the record for the fastest ascent from the South Col. He also holds the dubious honour of traversing the Khumbu Icefall over fifty times.

Jon's climbing career spans 25 years and includes expeditions to Shivling, Changabang, Mt Blanc, Grand Jorasses, and the Matterhorn.

In 1992 Jon, with his wife Brigitte, who climbed Everest in 1997, established a guiding company, Adventure Plus , specialising in expeditions to South America's highest mountain, Aconcagua.

In recent years Jon has concentrated on learning the art of survival in the harsh Australian deserts. He has put this skill to use during his sea-kayak journeys around the Australian coastline and his numerous solo and self-supported walks into the Australian desert.

Jon and Brigitte live in Natimuk, Australia.
