2005 Solo South Pole Expedition
Rob Porcaro

Australian Rob Pocarno is attempting to make a solo, unsupported trek from Beckner Island (on the edge of the Weddell Sea ) to the South Pole, a distance of approximately 1300 km.
This expedition hopes to attract public attention to the problem of depression that currently affects more than one and a half million Australians which, according to Porcaro, could become the leading cause of death in the world between now and 2020.

This Australian project, organised by the “Lasso the Moon” association, was scheduled for the Antarctic adventure season last year, but had to be cancelled a few months before they were due to set out.
