EXPEDITION TRANS-ANTARCTICA
Patrick Woodhead, Paul Landry, Alastair Vere Nicoll and David de Rothschild

This expedition is formed by two teams. The two teams will start on opposite sides of the Antarctic continent. The ski team will begin its 1,600km journey at the bottom of one of the world's largest glaciers (Axel Heiberg in Trans-Antarctic Mountains) and then, dragging 200lb sledges, pass through the mighty Trans-Antarctic Mountains before reaching the South Pole.

Meanwhile, two 4 x 4s will drive 700 miles from the other side of the continent and meet the ski team (Patrick Woodhead, Paul Landry, Alastair Vere Nicoll and David de Rothschild) at the South Pole. Once there, the 4 x 4s will re-supply the ski team with provisions and specialist kites (similar to kite surfing) and both teams will return along the 4 x 4's original route. The ski team will now be under sail, harnessing the wind and racing alongside the 4 x 4s. This part of the expedition will be filmed.
