Alain Hubert, Expedition Leader

48 years old, Belgian, mountain climber, married with three children. Trained as a civil engineer. Cabinet-maker and mountain guide, lecturer, and technical adviser.

Numerous ascents in the Alps including a good number of great classical itineraries.

  • 1983: first ascent of the East ridge of Ama Dablam (with Andr‚ Georges), Nepal.
  • 1987: solo attempt, Kanchenjunga (8491 m), Nepal.
  • 1989: winter attempt, Cho Oyu, SW face (8201 m), Nepal.
  • 1990: direct ascent, Cho Oyu, North face (8201m), Tibet.
  • 1991-99: 5 attempts on Everest (without oxygen), North face, South ridge and NNE ridge, Tibet and Nepal.
  • 1990-2001: ski treks in Spitzbergen, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Iceland, Antarctica and Arctic Ocean.
  • 1991: ski expedition, 600 km unassisted across Baffin Island, with Pierre Dillenbourg and Didier Goetghebuer.
  • 1994: expedition to the Geographical North Pole with Didier Goetghebuer (1100 km unassisted, an resupply en route).
  • 1995 and 1997: crossing Greenland with skis and powerkites.
  • 1997-98: 3924 km crossing of the entire continent of Antarctica with sails, in 99 days, to this day the greatest crossing ever accomplished on foot and skis with only the help of power sails.
  • 1999-2000: Reconnaissance mission to Queen Maud Land, Antarctica.
  • 2000-2001: First climbing the sheer wall of the Holtanna and other peaks in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica

Dixie Dansercoer

Born in 1962 in Nieuwpoort, Belgium.
Married, and father of three children. Having completed his studies as an interpreter/translator, he worked for 13 years as a flight attendant for Sabena, manager of circles, lecturer.

  • 1987: Belgian windsurfing Champion in the wave-riding discipline.
  • 1991-99: Many trekking expeditions over the World including some classical climbs, such as Mount Kenya, N-E and S/W faces, Kenya.
  • 1991: World Record Holder (Guinness record), altitude mountain biking, Teide, Tenerife.
  • 1993: Ironman (full triathlon, finisher, Australia and Belgium).
  • 1994: "Karakoram Bike Adventure", 1200 km though Pakistan and China.
  • 1995-2001: Ski Trek, Iceland, Spitsbergen, Alaska, and Arctic Ocean.
  • 1995: Trans-Greenland Expedition with Alain Hubert, on skis with power kites.
